There’s a certain alchemy that happens when design meets intention, when form, function, and feeling converge. For this Studio Jenka project, that moment came in the transformation of an aging bathroom and laundry into a bold, intuitive retreat that embodies both personality and poise.
What was once a tired, disjointed space became a sanctuary of texture, light, and quiet confidence, a study in how great design can turn the most functional rooms of a home into experiences of everyday luxury.
THE VISION
Our clients approached us with a clear intention, to create a bathroom that felt like a guest retreat, layered with warmth and individuality, and a laundry that worked harder, but looked effortless.
They wanted spaces that reflected their character: bold, spirited, unapologetically personal.
The challenge lay in the foundations. The existing bathroom was boxed in by a fixed toilet position on a concrete slab, and the laundry footprint left little room for change. Yet, within those parameters, we saw opportunity — to craft spaces that celebrated constraint through intelligent design.
DESIGN RESPONSE
Our approach was sculptural yet restrained, anchored by the belief that functionality should never come at the expense of feeling.
In the bathroom, a generous open wet zone replaced traditional partitions, dissolving boundaries and amplifying the sense of space. A built-in bench seat introduced both utility and serenity, while a carefully positioned hand shower created subtle harmony between the bath and shower areas.
The custom vanity and mirrored cabinetry brought architectural form to the room, their clean lines softened by layered lighting, ambient glows for relaxation, and focused illumination for daily rituals. A considered palette of large-format tiles and woven textures created visual continuity, enhancing scale and depth.
In the laundry, practicality met polish. We integrated tall joinery for concealed storage, foldable drying racks, and an elevated washing machine framed by a new slimline sink. The space feels deliberate and composed, every element serving a purpose while speaking to the home’s broader design language.
Touches of brass detailing trace the edges, catching light like jewellery, refined yet quietly confident. An LED-lit bath niche and slim gold shelf punctuate the room with moments of understated luxury.
