ELIZABETH ROZELLE
Balancing calm sophistication with everyday practicality, this Rozelle family bathroom is a quiet retreat designed to serve four busy lives with ease and beauty.
THE VISION
Our approach was guided by softness, in palette, light, and form. A gentle mix of warm neutrals, natural textures, and curved architectural details created a bathroom that feels cohesive and serene.
THE CHALLENGES
With no windows and only a frosted skylight, natural light was limited. The compact footprint demanded clever storage solutions and careful spatial planning to ensure the bathroom could comfortably support four people without feeling cramped or cluttered.
THE DESIGN RESPONSE
To counter the lack of daylight, we introduced layered lighting, soft LED strip illumination and sculptural wall sconces that wash the space in a gentle, even glow. The result is a lighting scheme that brightens without harshness, creating a calm, ambient mood both day and night.
A light, textural palette brings depth and warmth: travertine-look tiles line the walls and floors, contrasted with a feature wall of vertical green finger tiles for subtle texture and tone. The arched mirror wall becomes both a sculptural focal point and a nod to timeless architectural form.
The custom floor-mounted vanity maximises storage, designed with an angled carcass to make full use of the space. A generous shaving cabinet mirrors this geometry, providing concealed storage without heaviness.
To meet the practical needs of a young family, the layout was reimagined to include a large corner bath, easy to clean and perfectly suited for both children and relaxation, alongside a spacious walk-in shower with a built-in bench seat and heated towel rails for post-shower comfort. Wall-to-wall niches in both shower and bath areas add discreet, functional storage while maintaining a streamlined aesthetic.
THE OUTCOME
The finished bathroom feels calm, composed, and quietly luxurious, a space that balances family function with refined materiality. Every detail, from the soft curves of the arched niche to the gentle warmth of the lighting, was designed to make the room feel generous and grounding despite its modest size.
In Rozelle, light, texture, and thoughtful detailing come together to create something that feels deeply Studio Jenka, where design isn’t just seen, but felt.
